Note: This feature is limited to Enterprise and Virtual Events plans.
Also, this feature will only allow you to add and customize language options within the Classic Webinar room, not the New Interactive Experience Studio.
Previously, Enterprise and Virtual Events hosts using RTMP feeds in their events would need to direct their feed into BigMarker, which would then process the raw stream to maximize compatibility across browsers.
This method allowed you to have both presenters on webcams inside the webinar room, as well as content streaming in from any third party RTMP software provider. But this also prevents hosts from providing additional selectable audio streams, which they could use to offer translated versions of the webcast.
Now with our Multi-Language Audio Stream feature, you can send the raw stream to attendees directly. This allows you to use an unlimited number of additional audio streams — and provide multiple languages for your RTMP broadcast. This will also allow you to RTMP into the BigMarker room at any resolution, so you can ensure all attendees are seeing the same high-quality content.
In this article, we will touch on the restrictions surrounding this feature and how to enable this feature in your webcasts.
Multi-language Audio Stream Warning:
Please note that adaptive resolutions for those who are connecting on slower internet connections are not yet available for this feature, but will be added in the near future. This means if you are using the Multi-Language Audio Streams feature and you are outputting the RTMP feed in 4K or a higher resolution, attendees accessing the webcast via a slower internet connection will not be able to view the content being shared at this time.
For this reason, we strongly recommend only using this feature with audiences with strong or wired connections.
If presenters or admins enable their webcam feed within the BigMarker room while the Multi-Language Audio Streams setting is enabled, the audio and video feeds will only appear to other presenters and admins, not attendees. Hosts can use this to communicate with presenters verbally during the session without being heard by attendees.
If you have any additional questions or concerns about setting up your RTMP stream or using this new feature, please contact your BigMarker Account Team directly.
How to Enable the Multi-Language Audio Streams Feature Before the Session Begins:
1. Before the webinar room opens to presenters, log in to your event and select the Edit tab.
2. Staying in this tab, scroll down to the Advanced Settings section — or use the CMD/CTRL+F function and enter the phrase RTMP Multi-Language Audio Streams
3. Click Enable.
4. Click Save (located on the top right hand corner of the page) to complete.
Setting Up Multi-Language Audio Streams in Your BigMarker Event:
1. Log into your webinar and select the Manage Webinar tab. If your event has already started, a button that reads Enter Webinar will appear in the center of this page, just below the title of your webinar. Select Enter Webinar.
2. Once you’ve entered the webinar, you can begin to add RTMP streams. In the horizontal bar along the top of your screen, select Add RTMP stream.
3. In the pop-up that appears, you will find your session’s stream URL and stream key. Under those options you will find the Audio Stream Keys option.
4. Click Add to add these Stream Keys to your session, this will generate the stream key with English listed as the language by default. You can rename the stream by clicking the copy above its stream key, then enter the desired name.
5. Copy and paste your session’s stream URL and stream key code into the third party RTMP service of your choice. We'll show you where to input this information in OBS next.
Note: you will need to set the default stream first before adding additional streams.
6. Once you have completed the set up from your first default stream, Select Copy, then paste the Stream URL and enter the Audio Stream Keys in the same location you entered the Stream Key in step 5.
If the above step does not bring content into BigMarker, it is because you have not yet set up your first stream. You need to have 1 default stream running before you can add additional audio streams.
